How does it work?

The array goes into the water with the hands, feet, or other body parts, and the control unit delivers a small direct current into the array, which causes the metals within the array, in combination with the water and salt, to generate positively and negatively charged ions. These ions neutralize charged particles in the body. The neutralized particles are pulled out of the body through the skin via osmosis and diffusion. Osmosis and diffusion involve the movement of particles through a membrane, from a lower concentration to a higher concentration. In this case, the higher concentration is the ion field set up by the array in the water.

For the purpose of IonCleanse® discussions, positive and negative relate to electrical, rather than chemical phenomena. When the IonCleanse® is set on positive, the current flows to the positive pole in the array, which results in more negative ions being produced in the water, 4H2O + 4e- ---> 2H2 + 4OH-. In this polarity we have hydrogen gas coming from the array, and we are left with an abundance of negatively charged ions in the water. Therefore, positive polarity generates a negative ion flow.
When the IonCleanse® is set on negative, the current flows to the negative pole in the array, which results in more positive ions being produced in the water, 2H2O --- O2 + 4H+ + 4e-. In this polarity we have oxygen gas coming from the water, and we are left with an abundance of positively charged ions in the water. Therefore, negative polarity generates a positive ion flow. This process is known as the electrolysis of water.
Ionization has been used for many decades. However, the concept of using ionization in a foot bath, such as the IonCleanse®, is a relatively new idea. Similar phenomena occur while walking along a beach or near a waterfall. Ions are generated by the movement of the water molecules. We are creating the same reactions with the Ion Cleanse®, only magnified many times over.

Research
*NEW RESEARCH*
The Alternative Health Research Foundation recently conducted a study investigating the IonCleanse® ionic foot bath in conjunction with relaxation techniques and mineral supplementation.
The study had thirty-one participants do IonCleanse® ionic foot bath sessions twice a week for 12 weeks. The participants meditated during each session and took a standard dose of intraMAX™ mineral supplement at the end of the session. Heavy metal blood tests were taken before and after the 12 week period.

AMD has also conducted and/or sponsored numerous studies designed to support or contest the veracity of the IonCleanse® Vitality Enhancement System. Shown in this section are the heavy metals report, the Townsend letter and a study conducted by Dr. Carlos Lopez-Moreno, M.D. showing the presence of urea, creatinine and glucose in the water after a treatment.

vs Competition
Is your ionic foot bath safe?
The IonCleanse® units are the only ionic foot baths on the market to have passed FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and CE (European Conformity) electrical safety standards. While several of our competitors claim to have the same approvals, our testing confirmed that none of the units passed all of the safety tests that the IonCleanse® Premier® or Solo® has.
A Major Difference, Inc. hired EMC Integrity Incorporated and Compliance Integrity Services to evaluate six ionic foot bath units. The units were tested for Radiated Emissions and evaluated based on IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60035-1. The units evaluated were:
| Aqua Chi |
Cell Spa |
| Aqua Detox † |
Spa Cleanse |
| B.E.S.T. Energy Spa |
Bella Spa/Wellspring Portable Foot Bath |
The summary of the results is outlined in a comparison chart below. Please click on the link to view a full screen version of the chart.

Ion Cleanse® vs Competition - Electrical Safety Comparison Chart
Notes to the comparison chart:
Bella Spa/Wellsrping Products claims to have a CE approval on their IonSpa® portable foot bath as noted by the logo on their unit; however, recent testing proved they still do not meet all of the safety standards.
The Aqua Chi and the B.E.S.T. Energy Spa units have the same circuit design as a battery charger the components of which can be purchased at The Home Depot or Lowes. These components are not rated as safe for use in an ionic foot bath.
The Cell Spa and Spa Cleanse units are manufactured in China and sold exclusively through the Internet at prices well below what it costs AMD to manufacture the IonCleanse®. Not only are these two units unsafe, the Spa Cleanse broke down during testing.
Click on the links below to view the safety evaluation summaries for each of the products tested.*
Several of these companies claim to have CE, FCC, and UL approvals. Ask the manufacturers for a detailed copy of their safety reports (approximately 150 pages).
AMD, the acknowledged leader in the ionization foot bath industry, is deeply concerned about these safety issues because they reflect badly on the industry as a whole. AMD is doing its best to educate the consumer and provide guidance in the marketplace for prospective customers. If you are a practitioner, you must be concerned about liability. Insurance companies may not cover damages from units out of regulatory compliance. As an individual user, you need to be concerned about the physical safety of you and your family.
In light of this, AMD is pleased to offer a full value trade-in on any existing detox foot bath, up to $1500, toward the purchase of an IonCleanse® Premier®, or $1000 toward the purchase of the IonCleanse® Solo®. For more information, please call us at 877-315-8638.

Safety Reports
Safety is a vital concern when using an ionic foot bath. Since our first introduction to the technology in 1999, we have seen many ionic foot baths introduced into the marketplace. While no one has been able to duplicate the safety of the IonCleanse® units, several of our competitors have made claims regarding the safety clearances of their devices. Several things to note when browsing the competition:
-
The use of wristbands with ionic foot baths. Almost all of the ionic foot baths manufactured in China and the Orient make use of wristbands. While the functional claims of the wristbands are varied and sometimes inconceivable, the wristbands serve one function: to ground the individual through the unit. Because of the contact with the wrist, any fluctuations in the wall current may have a direct path to the heart. As noted in our safety comparison chart (vs the Competition tab), the leakage current running through the wristband in these units is extremely unsafe.
-
The sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Just because the individual internal components of the device have been tested for safety does not mean the device as a whole is compliant. Several ionic foot baths make use of simple household components that have been tested safe for applications that have nothing to do with footbaths. A current regulator for a fan control switch may not regulate current in a manner appropriate for an ionic foot bath that interacts with your body.
-
Official safety reports. Aqua Chi, Aqua Detox, and the ionic foot baths from Bella Spa Products along with countless imports from China claim to have passed the CE safety tests. Ask these manufacturers to produce the 150 pages of documentation necessary to support their claims. The IonCleanse® Premier™ has passed all of the applicable tests to receive CE clearance. The actual reports along with the FCC testing are listed below.
The reports on the IonCleanse® Premier® are from independent third-party companies that evaluate products based on FCC and CE conformity testing. Many of the tests validate overall product safety; however, several of the tests also confirm high product quality. For FCC compliance, for example, a device must pass the Electro-static Discharge test. You will recognize this phenomena if run your feet across a carpet and touch an operating device. The “static discharge” from your body to the device should have no impact on the function of the unit, as is the case with the IonCleanse® Premier®. Without proper design, this type of static discharge could create a short in a machine causing the need for repair.
Please call A Major Difference, Inc. with any questions regarding these important reports. Before making a final purchasing decision, make sure the ionic foot bath you’re interested in has similar documentation supporting its safety and quality.
Income Potential
The IonCleanse® Premier® provides a thorough and efficient way to cleanse and purify the body. However, the IonCleanse® also provides a generous income stream for the practitioner. The average charge for an Ion Cleanse® session is $40. As the chart below demonstrates, the practitioner has the capability to earn an incredible passive income stream. In fact, 70% of practitioners purchase a second unit within 90 days.

AMD recommends giving free sessions to clients after the initial equipment purchase. Once the clients realize the benefits from using the IonCleanse®, packages of six to ten sessions can be sold to them at a 10% discount. At $40 per session, it would take less than eight people to sign up for a package of ten to completely pay for the unit.
